A Boost for Lebanon

Citizens Energy Group has filed a site plan approval for a utility station in Hendricks County. 

The proposed site is located in the northeastern part of the county at W 82nd St/E CR 950 N and N County Road 1025 E. 

If approved by the Plan Commission and the Drainage Board, the utility station will include two water tanks, a booster station, and a stormwater detention basin, according to Benjamin Easley, Corporate and Public Affairs Coordinator for Citizens Energy.

Essentially, this location would be used to pressurize or speed up the water’s energy, thus keeping it moving throughout the system. 

While it would be located in Hendricks County, the facility itself is designed to support the Citizens Lebanon Water Supply Program, or CLWSP. 

CLWSP is Citizens Energy’s way of supplying their wholesale customer, in this case Lebanon, with reliable drinking water. Lebanon Utilities will then administer said water to its own customers including the LEAP Innovation District. 

The proposed hub in Hendricks County is just a piece of the project. In its entirety, Citizens Energy Group hopes to be delivering up to 25 million gallons of water per day to Lebanon Utilities by 2031. 

The Plan Commission held a public hearing on August 11, where a number of Brownsburg residents expressed concerns including noise, appearance, fuel containment, and other possible impacts to residents. 

Discussion surrounding the project was continued to the October 13 meeting. 

The Citizens Energy Group webpage lists the site as “in construction as of August 2026.”
