Feeding it Forward Into 2026
Participants pause for a moment before dishing out the Christmas feast to waiting dogs and cats.
As is tradition, Hendricks County Friends of the Shelter volunteers, along with several shelter staff members and volunteers, prepared a Christmas feast for the animals spending their holiday waiting for forever homes.
Several additional guests assisted this year, including Hendricks County Commissioner Dennis Dawes, Executive Director to the Commissioners, Todd McCormack, Sheriff Jack Sadler and his wife, Casey, Deputy Chief Scott Larsen, and Avon Police Deputy Chief Dave Margason and his wife, Brook.
Some 15 dogs and 19 cats were treated to a special meal. Dog bowls contained ham, mixed vegetables and sweet potatoes, topped with whip cream. The cats enjoyed one of their favorite — sardines.
With multiple changes at the Hendricks County Animal Shelter making headlines recently, it was good for many involved to stop and spend time with the animals under their care. Additionally, staff and volunteers were able to meet and talk with leaders.
The next County Commissioners meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, at 9:00 a.m., where updates from the previously well-attended meeting are expected.
