In 1925, The Republican ran this cartoon by artist Magnus Kettner on the front page of the December 10 issue. There was famine in the Near East and local churches were hosting “Golden Rule Sunday” to collect money for relief halfway around the world. Santa Claus was using the radio to get the message out of “Good Will to All.” One hundred years later, there is still a need for giving, at home and afar. Here are some ways to give this holiday season. You can make a gift in the name of a friend or relative instead of buying a present, or make a gift because you believe in the cause. And as Santa says, “Do it now.”

FAMILY PROMISE

Family Promise is collecting holiday gifts for their annual Santa Shop, where families in need can shop for their children. Gifts should not be wrapped and can be delivered to Family Promise December 15-16, between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. This is for HC families not already sponsored by holiday programs. For more info, visit their Facebook page.
