The first Indianapolis 500 was held on May 30, 1911. Known as the inaugural International 500-Mile Sweepstakes Race, it took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Decoration Day (now Memorial Day). Ray Harroun was declared the winner, completing the race in 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 8 seconds.

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.
