Danville Town Council Room to Get Upgrades

By: Isabella Zarate

The upgrades are not over for Danville Town Hall.

First the parking lot was refreshed and now the town council meeting room is ready for its moment.

Assistant Town Manager, Will Lacey presented a list of items wanted for the renovation at the October 15th Town Council meeting.

The presented list came to a total of $50,420 with large portions of that being allotted for the following:

$10,000 for 10 iPads

$2,600 for 10 iPad cases

$4,200 for 12 admin chairs

$5,000 for 50  general room chairs

$1,000 for window tinting

$12,000 for reorganizing setup of ESCO mic and speaker

Upgrades are intended “to improve the overall audio and visual experience,” according to Danville’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Madison Henderson.

“We are just looking at ways to make this room just a little bit more effective,” Lacey said in the meeting.

In terms of effectiveness there was discussion of quality for individuals watching online - specifically noted was the audio and inability to see presentations presented on the current projector.

In the beginning, the town had consulted an outside company regarding the changes, though the estimated cost came back at $250,000. Thus, it was decided to keep the work in house and to complete it in phases.

While it won’t be an entire turnaround of the current room’s footprint it will be “a little bit of pretty with a lot more AV side,” as stated by Lacey.

There is no set timeline for when the revamp will be complete.
