Betty Jo Bartley


Betty Jo Bartley has devoted many years and hours to The Republican newspaper since 2004. She began her journey when Betty Weesner told her to write articles and she has done it ever since! She brings laughter, information and history to the community each week. Betty has a vast knowledge of the history of Danville and surrounding areas. She grew up on a dairy farm  in Hendricks County. Betty has been the Editor since 2016 and does an amazing job!  

Kirsten Simon

Advertising Sales Manager

Kirsten joined the Republican Newspaper in December 2020 as the Advertising Sales Manager. She is a native and graduate of Danville Community High School. Kirsten studied Marketing at Ball State University, and later worked in advertising. Kirsten is married to Lance and has three children, Ty, Julia and Adele. She says the Republican is "our piece of history." Kirsten brings her artistic talents, positive personality and advertising expertise to The Republican Newspaper! Jerry Vornholt


In 2019, The Republican found a new owner, Jerry Vornholt. With no experience in the newspaper business, but the same interest in the community as Hogate, Weesner, and Bartley, he worked to improve and expand the newspaper's content, keeping in line with Hogate's goal to "always stand for the best in the life of the community."Jerry is married to Ginny and has three adult children, Chris, Julie and Dave.

Beth Polley

Office Manager

Beth Polley joined the team in 2016. She keeps track of our subscribers, sends them reminders when it's time to renew and keeps the books for the business. Since working at The Republican, she has added to her skill list Master of the Graphotype and is earning her degree in Addressograph. We have only started to take advantage of her talents. She lives in Martinsville with her husband and two young boys, but considers The Republican her home away from home.
